Boating

Dear DUC Boating member

Judging from the number of uncollected boating forms, 2009 may not have been good year for making use of your boat, so you may be shocked to find out that boat inspection time has come around again already and you still have get the boat wet this year! Please make a note in your diary that Boat inspection will be on the weekend of Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November

This year we will hopefully be conducting the boat safety inspections under the auspices of the Natal Deep Sea Angling Association (NDSAA) which will mean a quicker turn around time for processing the Certificates of Sea Worthiness and harbor permits. If you have a U number on your boat, this will need to be changed.  There has been a change in procedure for signing out at the Ski Boat base when launching at Vetche’s. The DUC and all other Durban Ski Boat launch forms have been removed and you now just have to fill in the 3 colour Parks Board launch sheet.  Also, we have been advised that no alterations are permitted to be carried out on the bay license discs. If any changes need to be made, then the disc must be withdrawn by the Small Craft Office (Only) and a new license disc issued.

Dear DUC Boating member

The wheels of bureaucracy have finally moved and most sea worthies and harbour discs are in the boating members files ready for collection. There are a few outstanding applications with missing information and payments and we will sort those out when you contact us looking for your goodies. Contact the club manager, Paul on 031 3681199 , if you have any queries regarding your sea worthies or harbour discs. Regards Ryan Hanson DUC BOATING OFFICER 0824460018

OFFER OF BOAT SHELTERS AT DUC.

As part of the development of the Point Waterfront, some temporary (medium term) boat shelters are being built behind the PYC clubhouse which are being made available to the members of all three clubs, the details of which can be found in the attachment. If you cannot open it, let us know and we will send it to you in another format.  To facilitate this type of communication the future we would like to set up a separate mail list for our boating members, so please reply to me with your contact e-mail address and cell number if you are a boat owner as this general list will no longer be used to communicate with boat owners.

Thank you  Ryan Hansen

Message to all boat owners from the Port of Durban

Please note that the northern side of the entrance channel is being dredged rapidly and at high water could be mistaken for navigable water.

By Christmas it will be dredged to the new pier and covered with water at high tide.

All clubs are hereby informed that all crafts are to stay within the navigable channel demarcated by the buoys.

This photograph below is two weeks old and already much of what you see has been dredged.
