What happens at the
club?
THURSDAYS
Club nights are held every Thursday night from 4pm until late. The
objective of the club night is to offer an opportunity for members
to connect and network as well as plan their weekend diving and
ocean activities with each other.
The kitchen will usually offer some club specials on this night to
entice members to bring their families to the club for an eat-out
experience at affordable prices.
The surf ski members meet on late Thursday afternoons / evenings for
a social paddle and course race, followed by a club meal and a
rehydration session.
Diving members are able to fill their air cylinders for free if they
enjoy a main meal from the club kitchen on a Thursday night. (This
offer can only be redeemed on the night - no accumulation). Nitrox
fills are also available at a discount on a Thursday with a main
meal. For prices on airfills and dives - checkout the
Scuba Diving page.
The monthly committee meetings are held on the last Thursday night
of each month, so if you wish to interact with your committee or
bring something to their attention, this is the night to do so.
FRIDAYS
The club kitchen will now open on Fridays from
1pm until 8pm. So think of your club as the spot for your "knock off
work early" Friday lunch or the place to go with the kids after
school instead of the Spur on a Friday. With the best weather season
on the way, the club should offer some great Friday evenings for a
swim, surf, promenade cycle or run and an affordable family meal and
refreshments afterwards.
DUC's location makes it a hit with all
guests looking to wind down (or up) for the weekend. If you would like to
check the weather conditions before coming to the club
(avoid the club on a "beasterly easterly" day).
The club is also available on Fridays as a venue for functions such
as; anniversaries, weddings and receptions, year end work
functions, team building and informal meetings. See the
functions page for more info.
SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS
These are the club's most popular days with the club's beach users.
Braai's and charcoal are supplied every Sunday at no charge to
members who wish braai. Members are welcome to bring their own meat
or they can purchase braai packs from the kitchen.
If weather conditions allow, there is usually a DJ on a Sunday to
entertain the members.
The kitchen is usually very busy on a Sunday and we ask members to
order early, be patient and remember that this is a club with
limited kitchen facilities,
not a fast food restaurant. |
