SAN Parks Display
On March 21st and 22nd, the Durban Undersea Club is hosting a massive event to celebrate World Water Day. We will be there too!
The South African National Parks (SANParks) Honorary Rangers is a volunteer Public Benefit Organisation committed to supporting the strategic objectives of SANParks, and is the preferred volunteer support organisation of SANParks. Our vision is to be: “A world class volunteer organisation operating as an integral partner to South African National Parks in support of their strategic objectives.” Our purpose is quite simply to give our best to conserve our natural heritage.
What are we doing for World Water Day?
Come visit our stand at the DUC to learn more about SANParks Honorary Rangers, nature conservation and how you can get involved. There will be a display of waterwise plants from the Twinstreams Indigenous Nursery in KZN, and you may even find a plant to buy.
We will also be giving away saplings of the endangered Pepper Bark tree to good homes. Pepper Bark trees (Warburgia salutaris or ‘isibhaha’ in isiZulu) have been heavily harvested in the wild due to their medicinal properties, and have become endangered. They are legally protected in South Africa, and we are helping to distribute this Tree of the Year 2021 to take the pressure off the few remaining wild trees.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the SANParks
Honorary Rangers stand!
