Newsbreak 15/01/2021

Dear DUC and DSBC Members

We wish we could say “Happy New Year” with conviction, but we will have to settle for we wish you all the best for 2021 and that you and your family stay safe and healthy.

We would like to thank the members that heeded the call to support the club during these challenging times when access to the beach and ocean, some of the prime reasons why most members are members of the club, has been curtailed.
There has been a definite change in how the members have supported the club since January 11th as many members have returned to work and prepare for the educational year ahead after the holidays. On analysing the club sales and turnover data, the committee has decided to adapt the club hours to accommodate the members needs which show a trend of supporting the club later in the day rather than early on.

To balance the demand from members for a later opening of the club with the costs involved, a decision was made to close the club completely on Mondays and Tuesdays when member demand is historically at the lowest.

The club will now open from 7am to 7pm Wednesday to Saturday and from 7am to 4pm on Sundays.

Please see below for the adjusted club hours going forward:

• During the days and hours that the club is closed – the afterhours ablutions (accessible from the undercover parking are available.
• Cool drinks, water, ice, snacks and bait are available 24/7 from the launch control office (Bait store). Remember this when the queue at the coffee counter is long and all you need is a water or cool drink!
• There is a PWC staff member on duty in the front launch (bait) office 24/7 should you require any assistance.

Social Distancing

When you next visit the club you will note that some changes have been made to the club table arrangements to adhere to the social distancing protocols. Please feel free to rearrange the tables to the needs of your group but please reinstate the table positions on your departure.

Club Staffing levels and service

We currently have one or two staff in isolation (not infected) after being exposed to Covid. To reduce the possibility of further exposure and create separate “teams” as well as to balance member support (income) with expenses (staff) – staffing levels on shifts have been adjusted on a flexible basis.
The club menu will also be adjusted according to support and staffing.

The Sunday Roast is back

The good news is that Roxy, the kitchen manager, will be reintroducing the Pork Belly roast and vegetable quick meal option on Sundays. If support is good, we may also look at re introducing the Friday Eisbien quick meal next Friday.
