[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dear DUC and DSBC Members
With the overwhelming support we received from you this past weekend, it seems that we are back into the full swing of things. We do still have some service areas to expand and improve upon to help reduce the waiting times.
We will now be opening the bar at 7am on Saturdays and Sundays to service those members just looking for iced water, orange juice and cool drinks. Alcoholic drinks can only be served from 10 am according to regulation. This will hopefully relieve some of the pressure on the coffee station.
We are also in the process of sourcing equipment to open the small take away kitchen in the northern area of the clubhouse. The menu here will concentrate on take away style pub fare meals like toasted sandwiches, baskets, burgers and chips. Coffee will also be available here giving us three coffee station options.
We expect to have the take away kitchen up and running by the weekend of 7th November.
Thank you for your continued support and patience while we fine tune our operations to cope with the demand.
October 31st RWC Final rerun Saturday 1pm to 3pm
If you have been watching the series on DSTV, Chasing the Sun at 6pm on Sundays, you may want to get into the mood for the final episode this Sunday by attending a screening or the RWC 2019 Final at the club from 1pm on Saturday.
After the Sharks recent poor performances, at least we know that this match has a happy ending!
October 31st Halloween Party Saturday 4pm to 11pm
The club only does Halloween Parties when Oct 31st falls on a Friday or Saturday which only happened every seven years, so don’t miss this year as it is also a full moon, adding to the atmosphere. The club will be dressed up for the occasion and will operate normal hours in the kitchen – ie last order at 7.45pm as well as in the bar and clubhouse.
This is a members only party so there are no tickets – your entry ticket is to wear a mask and some sort of Halloween item or dress up. There will be prizes for dressing up – see attachments and pictures for inspiration. Tables and chairs are on a first come, first served basis.
The plan is for everyone that is present at the club on Saturday afternoon, whether they are part of the festivities or not, to bring a bag of goodies for the kids – members without kids are welcome to join in and bring something with them to the club for the kids.
We would like to start at about for 4pm for the young kids . The kids can then go from table to table trick and treating until about 7pm. Thereafter the DJ will kick in and the dancing in the moonlight will begin until 11pm.
Due to Covid considerations, please wear your scary mask whenever you are not drinking or eating or if you are in close proximity to others. There will be a Covid register and temperature readings on arrival – please ensure that at least one person in your party completes the register. Current curfew regulations require that the last order in the bar will be at 10.30pm with the club closing at 11pm so that the staff can get home in time.
Please be responsible and keep safe.

Rebecca Retires – a message from the Commodore of DSBC and Chairman of PWC
A sad day has come where we as a “Family” say farewell to one of our longstanding friends. Rebecca has decided that it is time to retire and enjoy life with her family and friends.
She has been part of the DSBC staff for some 30 years and although I haven’t been part of the club since she started I cannot remember a day when she hasn’t blessed us with her infectious smile and customary “Good morning Baba”.
As members she has undoubtedly touched all our lives in some way.
The uncertainty of not working and earning an income will no doubt be on her mind so I ask that donations to a retirement gift me made by us as members.
Payments can be made to Dave at the club or EFT’s to:-
