Dear DUC and DSBC Members
The annual club boat inspection will be taking place at the club this weekend Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th from 8.30 am to 3pm each day. This is for motorised ski boats and jet skis only ( not paddle craft).
How this will affect non-boating members is that half of the open gravel parking area will be allocated to conducting the boat inspections which means available club parking spaces will be affected and there will be a lot of boats and trailers manoeuvring in the club access areas.
To compensate for the loss of parking, the club has arranged for some extra parking spaces to be made available for members in the undercover promenade parking in the Browns Road entrance. Staff will be on hand to guide members to this parking. Alternatively, keep R25 in cash handy to make use of the paid parking areas outside the clubhouse.
For those taking part in the boat inspection this weekend – please see below for details and procedure.

Boat inspection weekend 27th and 28th November
On this weekend, the club safety officers will offer their services to assist club boating members with their annual boating Certificate of Fitness (COF) for 2022.
Boat inspection fees for this year are:
R500 for 6m and under
R700 for over 6m
If you have not yet made payment – please make this the first thing you do on arrival at the club. Payment can be made in the club office on the day
Please Check out https://www.durbanskiboatclub.co.za/safety/ for the requirements and paperwork so you can start getting your act together before the inspection dates. Trying to do it all on the day inevitability leads to disappointment and delays.
For any queries in this regard, you can contact Skinny: derrickferreira56@gmail.com or Ryan: ryan@durbanyamaha.co.za
Boat inspection procedure
Attached is the route we would like the members attending the boat inspection to follow with their boats in tow. At the Camperdown / Albert Terrace intersection, you must turn right into Camperdown and then left into Mahatma Gandhi Road.
Proceed along Mahatma Gandhi Road (the red line on the attached map)
If there is space in the boat yard you will be directed to the gate next to the entrance of On Point (the old temporary clubhouse) and into the boat yard to queue up for the inspection.
If there is no space in the yard, you will be able to park in the left-hand lane in Mahatma Gandhi Road (along the red line) until there is space in the boat yard for you.
Once you are in the yard or while waiting in the road – first proceed to the covered awing area at the boat wash bay.
The team members there will check that your paperwork is in order first before the inspector checks your boat. Please try and do your printing of documents at home as there will be a R2 per page charge levied by the club if you use the club printing facilities.
Once you have completed the boat inspection and you would like to enjoy a meal or beverage at the club with your fellow members, you can then park your vehicle and boat on the beach in front of the club.
If you do not have a 4×4, then the club tractor will tow your boat and trailer on to the beach while you park your vehicle in the available parking. There will be no tractor fee for this beach parking service (no tractor tow ticket needed). If you launch, normal tractor tow tickets are applicable. Unhitching and hitching of boats and trailer going on the beach will take place on the right-hand side of the access tunnel.
Here’s to a hassle free weekend!
We look forward to seeing you at the club
