Dear DUC and DSBC Members
Tropical Storm Batsirai has taken a sharp left turn and headed off into the southern Indian Ocean. Normal bathing activities can continue as the shark nets along the central Durban beaches are back in place.
Members are reminded that there is a designated bathing area attended by lifeguards within the Vetchs basin. This is to ensure that there is a sufficient buffer between the bathers and the boating activity in the basin and that the two should never meet while in the water.
The boating launch site is also demarcated with beacons and signs and we ask that members keep clear of this area and if passing through it, keep kids and pets under control as well as keeping an eye out for boating activity out to sea and vehicle activity on the beach.
Age Limits for bathroom access
One of the issues that came to light during the recent holidays was the use of the club bathrooms by unsupervised children and the use of the female ablutions by male children older than 8 years old.
The club rules state:
- The bathrooms may not be used by any child under the age of eight (8) years, unless such a child is accompanied by an adult.
- This implies that if a child is 8 years and older, they must use the appropriate gender bathrooms.
