Dear DUC and DSBC Members
The adjustment to Level 2 Lockdown in response to the recent increase in COVID 19 cases affects the club as follows:
- All upcoming social events have been postponed; this includes Worlds Ocean Day on 5th June with the accompanying events such as the Volleyball comp.
- The well supported Potjie Comp planned for the 16th June as well as all live music gigs have been postponed
- In line with the enforced 11pm to 4am curfew, club closing hours will move forward half an hour to 9.30pm with last round in the bar at 9pm. Club hours are attached for your convenience.
Members are welcome to continue to support the club by making more use of the outside areas including the beach to ensure that the risk of COVID transmission is reduced. If taking your meals on to the beach, please ask for a takeaway container. Although PWC uses recyclable take away packaging products – please dispose of these in the bins and not on the beach. If making use of the inside areas of the club, please practice social distancing and always wear a mask.

Junior and Ladies Fishing Comp Sunday 6th
One event that has not been postponed at this stage is the Junior and Ladies fishing comp which is to take place this Sunday 6th June. For more details or to enter, contact Alan: 0833095132
No Wake Zone
As the popularity and subsequent use of the Vetche’s beach, basin and launch site increases, you are reminded that the Vetche’s basin (the area between the north harbour breakwater and Vetches reef) is a no wake zone.
This means that all motorised craft must travel at a speed that does not produce a wake and always be on the lookout for other water users.
With the increase in popularity of open water swimming recently, the risk of a swimmer having a deadly encounter with a propellor is increased. Please refer to the Safety at Vetches attachment for more details.
Retail Shop requirements and Ice Sales
The club is starting to stock the retail shop (situated opposite the club office) with club branded clothing and items. To assist with displaying what is on offer we are looking for some mannequins on which to put samples for easy viewing. We are on the hunt for a male torso with head, female torso and a waist – see pictures.
If you have some lying around that you are willing to give to the club or offload at a good price, please contact Jackie – firstname.lastname@example.org
The club also sells ice at R10 a 5kg bag which is available from the front bait / launch room 24/7.
Unclaimed Surf Skis
Most of the surf ski, SUP and fishing ski racks have been allocated and we have ended up with a “pile” of unclaimed craft. Please see picture.
These skis will be posted on the various social media groups and members / owners of the craft have until the 16th of June to claim them.
Unclaimed skis will be put up for auction and all proceeds will go to the Siyaphambili Development squad.
If you have any queries about the skis, please contact David, the surf ski committee member: email@example.com
We look forward to seeing you at the club
